Argentina's PRO Party Condemns Anti-Vaccination Event

Buenos Aires, November 28 (NA) – The PRO party clarified this Friday that it is in favor of vaccination campaigns as a public health policy, to distance itself from the controversial 'anti-vaccine' event organized yesterday by national deputy Marilú Quiroz from their own yellow bloc.

'At PRO, we believe in science, prevention, and public policies based on evidence. We cannot normalize this regression,' they emphasized.

Therefore, PRO stressed that 'getting vaccinated is not an opinion' but rather 'an individual and collective responsibility.'

'From PRO, we will always promote and support policies that strengthen vaccination, improve access to healthcare, and protect Argentine families. For this reason, we reaffirm our historical commitment to vaccination campaigns and public health as an essential pillar for the well-being of all Argentines,' they stated.

In a statement obtained by the Argentine News Agency, the party founded and led by Mauricio Macri pointed out that during the Cambiemos government, 'Argentina reached record vaccination levels, expanding coverage, strengthening the National Vaccination Calendar, and promoting a prevention culture that allowed keeping under control diseases that unfortunately are reappearing today.'

'The decline in vaccination rates in recent years has reopened the door to pathologies that Argentina had almost stopped registering. Our commitment is clear: more prevention, more science, and fewer diseases that we thought we had overcome,' they concluded.

Simultaneously with the event questioning vaccine efficacy and warning about supposed adverse effects, a joint meeting of the Health and Science commissions was held to reaffirm the commitment to vaccination as an active public health policy.

Among others, this meeting was attended by the last Health Minister of Cambiemos, Adolfo Rubinstein, as well as the Buenos Aires provincial Health Minister, Nicolás Kreplak, and national deputies Pablo Yedlin and Daniel Gollan.
